Communications:
The autumn library newsletter has been released.

Librarian Lily Dougherty-Johnson was quoted in a “Hooked on Books” article in the September 1st issue of Long Island Newsday.

Director’s Report:
The elevator has been repaired 3 times in the past week, making it ever clearer that replacement is necessary. Replacement work is expected to be performed between Thanksgiving and the New Year. The Library has a choice of wood and color for the interior cab and exterior door respectively. The Board agreed unanimously on Cherry for the interior and cedar green for the door.

Lily needs a new desk. The company that recently fabricated the new shelving has been asked for a bid to build the desk.

The computers in the Children’s room are old and failing, and will need to be replaced soon. We are considering replacing them with iPad’s early in 2012.

The Ellen Williams program was a success with over 30 in attendance. The Lipsyte program was similarly well attended.

Committees:
Friends Liaison – The Friends of the Library have been very active. Their book sale at the Greenport Farmer’s market brought in more than $200.

New business:
New board member Richard Bonforte was welcomed.

Cathy Pfister has been hired as circulation clerk. Board approved pay of $10/hour on motion of 1) Angelson, 2) Hartmann, unanimous.

Meeting adjourned at 7:48 on a motion of  Gabriel.  The next meeting will be Monday, October 3, 2011, at 7:00 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Seth Kaufman, secretary
